The Heart of Boba’s Plants

I’m Boba, founder of Boba’s Plants—a haven for unique, handcrafted planters and thriving succulents. My journey began in a modest garden in Montenegro, where my mother nurtured a vibrant collection of houseplants and my father cultivated an organic paradise filled with fruit trees, vegetables, and herbs. Those early days instilled a deep love for plants in me, as I spent countless hours caring for my mother's indoor treasures and helping my father in his garden.

My very first responsibility was tending to the strawberries. As a little girl, I took great pride in nurturing them, eagerly anticipating the harvest. That joy remains with me today, as I grow strawberries in my Surrey garden—my personal connection to Montenegro, the roots of Boba’s Plants.

My passion for succulents ignited during a memorable trip to Cornwall, where these resilient plants seemed to thrive effortlessly. Each visit found me bringing home a few more beautiful specimens, until my home overflowed with greenery. I started propagating them and soon realized they needed new homes.

As my husband ran a T-shirt business at local markets, I joined him, bringing along my succulents. To my surprise, I discovered a community of plant lovers who shared my passion. I quickly became a regular at markets, selling my plants and connecting with others who appreciated their beauty.

Juggling a full-time office job while caring for hundreds of plants became exhausting. After a few years, I faced a choice: continue a stable but unfulfilling routine or pursue my passion. Choosing the latter wasn’t difficult. I left my office job to devote myself entirely to Boba’s Plants—my heart was set on transforming my love for plants into a thriving business.

As I immersed myself in this world, I faced new challenges. Not every plant remained flawless; pests and diseases tested my resolve. I realized that passion wasn’t enough. So, I invested in my education, earning my RHS qualification. Now, I don’t just care for my plants; I share that knowledge with my customers, especially new plant parents eager to create their own green sanctuaries. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing someone return to tell me their plants are thriving—a testament to the expertise I provide.

Finding quirky, unusual planters was a challenge in itself. I spent countless hours searching for pieces that reflected my vision, only to find nothing that resonated. Eventually, I decided to create my own. Through extensive research and experimentation, I discovered the perfect waterproof, durable materials to craft planters that were as unique as the plants they held.

Every planter at Boba’s Plants is hand-cast and finished with care, deliberately designed to complement each succulent. No two pieces are alike, creating a connection between the planter and the plant that draws admiration. Customers often stop to ask if the plants are real, highlighting the quality and artistry in every creation.
